Iglesia Discípulos de Cristo

San Juan

Designed to be built atop a hill, the structure of the church will be the first piece of a master plan that includes mixed-use development of the land. The volume of the church presents a mainly solid façade towards the exterior. From the interior, specific openings filter a faint light. These lateral wall openings, which act as cuts on a canvas, fill the walls with a dim light and do not allow views towards the exterior. Thus, the congregation’s attention is directed towards the activity occurring at the altar, which presents itself with a majestic backdrop: a grand cross as sculpture on a reflecting pool that can be seen through a large clear glass façade. To make efficient use of the land and its contours, a partially underground parking area will act as podium to the church above. The exposed side of the structure will allow for administrative and office space.
