Design Objectives and Benefits of the New Facility Proposal:

• Propose an alternate solution to remodeling and adding to the existing facilities which is not cost effective and does not guarantee problem free school facilities in the near future

• Propose more efficient and logical space program to better comply with the Special Education School needs and operation Resolve severe problems with existing storm sewer discharge and site flooding

• Create a new prototype for Special Education Schools in PR that have been alienated and ignored for years

• Facilitate maintenance of site infrastructure and buildings to achieve a low life-cycle-cost

• Enhance overall security for student and faculty population, buildings and premises

• New school proposal resolves circulation and facility planning inherent in the design of sprawled facilities

• Green areas, patios and playgrounds are consolidated rather than sprawled through the site between existing buildings

• The electrical substation is maintained in its current location in order to reduce relocation costs

• New drop-off, arrival sequence and stacking provisions are better resolved and allows for

a more efficient vehicular circulation and access to parking and service areas

• LEED Certification
