La Bodega de Méndez

2013 interior renovations

San Juan

The warehouse/offices and Bodega facilities in Guaynabo, both designed by SCF, were inaugurated in 1988.

The wine cellar spaces of La Bodega were housed in the warmth of wood finishes. The original design, created by Sierra Cardona Ferrer in the 1980’s, was traditional and vernacular in vocabulary: rustic pine wood, saltillo  (a Mexican type of terra-cotta) tiled floors, and warmly painted walls. Twenty-five years later, the new design, by SCF as well, creates a totally different and modern image, which appeals greatly to a growing young clientele. Monochromatic tones, stainless steel and quartz surfaces stand clear to let the wine bottles take center stage. A new LED lighting scheme is useful to allow for different colorful ambiance options for special events.
