Universal Insurance

Mayagüez

The Universal Group Client Service Branch in Mayagüez is an 18,500 sf commercial facility created for the company’s insurance sales, client service and claims center. The project is second to a series of buildings that are part of Universal’s corporate scheme to promote the company’s identity through a constant architectural presence throughout the island.

The two-story facility, with its circulation enclosed in an aluminum-clad volume has a cantilever roof for the vehicle inspection area. North and South façades with double-height glass windows  allow maximum transparency from the exterior to the interior, while the East and West façades are veneered in volcanic stone.

A system of large scale wood and steel doors pivot to act as shutters, protecting the glass façades from hurricane winds and the possible flying projectiles. It allows for the claims and business operations to continue right after any weather event.
